Welcome to Centaurs Lacrosse

The club was founded by Jill McInnes and a group of lacrosse enthusiasts in the mid eighties who were friends with Centaurs Rugby Club in Osterley, London. Unfortunately this ground is now derelict but Centaurs Lacrosse Club lives on! We are now very lucky to be based at The Lady Eleanor Hollies School in Hampton and enjoy superb pitches and fabulous training facilities in the school gym. Throughout the clubs history we have enjoyed the expertise of many international players. However, we have a well-rounded and diverse squad that allows us to field a team to be reckoned with, even during international training weekends when other clubs may struggle. We encourage school players to join us, both for training and matches and although at first taking that step up to a more competitive level of lacrosse can be daunting it always proves to be enjoyable and invaluable to a players development. We are one of the more successful teams in the South Premier League and in the Season 2010/2011 we won all three major titles: South Clubs and Colleges, National Clubs and Colleges and the South League Premier Division. We would particularly like to thank all of the school girls that played last season without whom we may well not have been able to sweep the trophy board! We hope to see many of you back this season alongside some fresh Centaurs faces.

Meet the Commitee

Tim Brewster – Club President

I have proudly taken on the role of Club President after our former President Vivien Jones sadly passed away. I first became involved in lacrosse through my daughter Lauran when she began to play in goal at school, aged 12. She joined the club aged 13 and we have been loyal Centaurs ever since! We have attended Goalkeeping clinics and camps throughout the east coast of the U.S learning invaluable techniques from some of the worlds greatest male and female keepers, most of which were not readily taught in this country. More recently I have become involved in the umpiring aspect of the game. During the lacrosse season, most of my weekends consist of umpiring and coaching! Random fact: I used to be a hot air balloon pilot

Cat Charman – Captain

Having trained with Centaurs for over 10 years I can confirm that they are definitely the best club to play for! From all the tournaments that Centaurs win to the friendly atmosphere of training and fun socials I have enjoyed every second of my time representing the club. I have represented England in the U19 World Cup and was on the Edinburgh University BUSA winning team 2 years in a row. I am also a lacrosse teacher at St. Catherine's School so devote most of my time to lacrosse! I like to play midfield defence. Random facts: I love to travel and I hate swimming.

Ashleigh Smith – Vice Captain

After graduating from Cornell University, I moved to England to take what I thought would be a 9 month post as a lax coach at boarding school outside of Banbury. Four years later, I'm still in the country coaching, playing and now training to become a primary school teacher! I've been playing lax since I was about 6 years old. I love playing in the midfield and defense. I think that the best part about playing though, is getting to be a part of the team. Random facts: I love baking and cake decorating! Also, I was a cheerleader all though high school when I lived in Baltimore, Maryland.
